Important life skills taught by ANS

One of the most important responsibilities of any preschool is to guide the students on the right path by clarifying the basics of education while aiding character and personality development. This is necessary, especially today, to encourage students to become the leaders of the future.

The education system followed by Arun Nursery School is unique in its true sense as they base their foundation course solely on a student’s character and emotional development. They put more emphasis on teaching the students necessary life skills that cannot be taught through textbooks alone. Principal Sumitra Mitter has put in extra focus and dedication into curating the perfect course work for these young adults to enable them to be confident and proud human beings.

Different Life Skills

Some essential life skills that are taught by Arun Nursery School include the following-

Social development

This life skill is very beneficial, regardless of the age group, as it is a necessary tool in building effective connections and individuality in the future. Gone are the days when students were taught discipline with the help of punishments to make them understand the importance of rules. The curriculum at ANS focuses on indulging the students in activities that encourage them to push out of their comfort zones and surpass obstacles, even when inconvenient.

Emotional awareness and development

In ANS, instead of the students, the teachers and parents are given specific training and instructions to allow them to understand the student’s expressions and emotions as per the principal Mrs. Sumitra MItter. This is done with the help of numerous workshops and activities that pose as a bridge between the student, teacher and parent and enable them to build stronger relations with each student. The students are also introduced to the right and the wrong behavior to help them report any maltreatment amongst their fellow classmates or by the teacher or parent.

Decision making

ANS greatly focuses on theme learning, which is a new development in the curriculum and at present has proven to be one of the strongest base foundations that contributes to mental development. Activities under theme learning encourage students to choose the right fit of toy, puzzle, paper, etc. as per the theme, giving them the entire responsibility of making the right decision. This helps them become better decision-makers in the future.

Independence

Children of every age, especially preschoolers, require a little nudge towards the right direction in order to help them understand the importance and responsibilities involved with being independent. At Arun Nursery School, this is done by ensuring that the teachers involve the young adults in activities that require self-discipline while giving them the independence of deciding the course of action. These activities include class monitoring, table setting, snack and candy distribution, arrangement of toy racks, etc.

Creative development

Principal Mrs. Sumitra Mitter, ANS believes that creative development is an essential aspect that contributes greatly to overall student development. The teachers around nursery school encourage students to explore the creative side or personal interests through various extracurricular activities. These activities are not limited to craftwork alone as they also involve other content creation projects that enable the children to utilize their creative and imaginative minds to present the best outcome to the teachers.

Known to present the students with numerous opportunities for self-development while increasing cultural awareness and sensitivity in the children from a young age, Arun Nursery School has managed to be one of the best schools in India today. The educational course followed in the school is not limited to the four walls within the classroom. It further extends to increased practical learning and character development while indulging the students in fun-filled activities to ensure maximum student participation along with strong student-teacher relationships.
